American Life League is rolling out the second year of its Pro-Life Pumpkin carving contest.

Participants will submit photos of their pro-life jack-o-lanterns for a chance to win $100 in pro-life gear.

“This is such a fun way to introduce kids to the pro-life movement,” said Judie Brown. “Every person who steps on your porch this October 31 will get a lot more than a handful of candy. They’ll also be getting a message about human rights and personhood for all.”

Last October, Michael Hichborn, American Life League’s multitalented researcher and “ALL Report” host, came into work one morning with snapshots of his newly-carved pumpkin featuring the silhouette of a preborn baby sucking her thumb.

Mike and his wife Alyssa had used the yearly Halloween tradition to talk to their kids about standing up for preborn babies and the precious gift of human life.

We had to share his idea and soon we were swamped with requests for the stencil which is now available on our web site.

Even more impressive, however, were the photos of dozens of original “pro-life” pumpkin creations that were e-mailed to us.

“Clearly this had sparked imaginations,” Brown said. “And we’re still hearing the stories of conversations sparked with neighbors.”

Photos of pro-life jack-o’-lanterns must be submitted no later than Wednesday, Oct. 27. The winner will be announced Friday, Oct. 29. Photos will be displayed on ALL’s Facebook fan page as they are received. Entries are not limited to one pumpkin. We encourage creations that make use of multiple pumpkins, and pictures that show you and/or your kids in action.
