The debate over defunding Planned Parenthood continues. Now, Kathleen Sebelius, the avidly pro-abortion Secretary of Health and Human Services, is weighing in. She says defunding Planned Parenthood would increase abortion because fewer women would have access to birth control. But several studies defy the Secretary’s reasoning—most recently in Spain. There they greatly increased the availability of contraception and the number of abortions more than doubled. The claim contraceptive availability reduces the abortion rate is the main argument Planned Parenthood has for needing your tax dollars. But the facts don’t support this assertion. And the truth is Planned Parenthood’s main function is abortion. They’re the largest chain of abortion mills in the nation, and they must be defunded.
